Breeding Programme:

· Since beginning of 2010 Finnish, Swedish and Danish red dairy populations have been same

· breeding population (VikingRed) and under same breeding scheme. In all these three countries

· the same selection tool, NTM, is used and AI-bulls are bought across these three counties.

· Breeding goal of Viking red is healthy, well-producing problem free cows that give the owner the

· best economy. Implementation of genomic selection scheme has started.

o 4,400 interesting pregnancies to be screened

o 2,000 born bull calves are genomically tested, also most interesting females are tested

o and flushed

o 270 bull calves are bought

o 200 are accepted as test sires

o 30% of all insemination services

o The best test sires are accepted as GenVikPLUS and used as sire of sons (age over

o 20 months)
