The main breeding goals are development and preservation of an economical and user friendly dairy breed.
* The main emphasis is laid on: - protein yield
- high dry matter content in milk
- disease resistance
- vitality
- ease of calving
- strong feet and legs
In addition
- good growth rate for early maturing females
- beef production (on bulls)
* Conformation traits shall include correct feet and legs with strong hooves, preferably dark. A functional, healthy udder with a strong ligament, correct teats and teat placement, to support high production in many lactations
* Fertility and health are essential for longevity to maximize profitability
* Good milkability and temperament
* The goal in colour is red. The different societies can accept different colours, for example red and white or brown
